Palm
Sunday, April 9th Gloria
Leustek, Jim Poesl, Walter Poesl and I went to see “The Passion” play at the Park
Performing Arts Center in Union City, NJ. Watching these
very talented young children and adults was a moving and
meaningful experience. This was the first time I have seen “The
Passion” as a
musical and it was wonderfully done. Reading the Passion
at worship on Sunday and then going to see it acted out
on stage made it even more meaningful for me.
This would be a great field trip to take confirmands on
next year. I think that seeing “The Passion” performed live on stage would be both a wonderful
and learning experience for them. It was a beautiful play and those of us
who attended really enjoyed ourselves. Hopefully, next year we can get a
larger group to attend. Written by Luann Albanese
Sunday
March 5th Noiz hosted the first soup supper of
the season. I must say we really out did ourselves. I
wanted to raise the bar and did we ever! We had Jim's
ever popular Chili, Dave's French Onion (yum), Natasha's
delicious Chicken Noodle, Rich's scrumptious Veggie Lentil
and my Shrimp Bisque that I made the first time ever.
Plus we had lots of great breads and salad and Lisa's
homemade desserts. Thank you all once again for all your
help in making this another successful Lenten meal.

Saturday
February 4th Noiz
gathered to watch “Chocolat” (2000)
in anticipation of the upcoming Lenten season's soup suppers.
The
basic plot of the movie is “When a single mother (Juliette
Binoche) and her six-year-old daughter move to rural France
and open a chocolate shop - with Sunday hours, [during Lent]
- across the street from the local church, they are met with
some skepticism. But as soon as they coax the townspeople
into enjoying their delicious products, they are warmly welcomed.” (from
www.imdb.com).
If you want to know more, come every Sunday at 3pm until
April 2 nd .

By now
most of you have seen the new bathroom in the Education Building,
recently painted and decorated by Noiz. Now the finishing
touches have been completed. The beautiful stenciling was
done on Saturday August 13th by the talented Jennifer (Nielsen)
Dean. (Jennifer, I'm
going to have to hire you to do my house! ) Thanks again,
Jennifer, for doing such a beautiful job. And thanks to all
of Noiz for your time and contributions. What do you think;
the next project should be the bathrooms in the social hall??

Saturday
July 30th was
our annual canoe and barbeque at the Poesl Cabin at Pauliskill
Lake. We had a good turnout this year including Christine
and Dave, Gloria and Rob, Bob Shackelton, Andy Wilensky (Jim's
friend from work), and of course Jim. In past years we had
a county-wide power outage, a celebrity death, a rainout,
and burned food. Thankfully this time only Rob and Gloria's
canoe got swamped. The food was plentiful and awesome, and
the lake water was great, so we can call it a complete success.

On
Saturday June 25th, Noiz and guests helped celebrate Pastor
Whitlock's 10th anniversary of ordination. Along with all
the other festivities, Noiz performed a short sock puppet
show called Three Cheers for Pastor! by Karen Werkmeister
found at http://www.christiancrafters.com The
sock puppets were made by Kathy Leifeste. Congratulations
again, Pastor! Written By Gloria Leustek
Something's Not Fishy. On Saturday June 11th,
Noiz was scheduled to go to Something Fishy, but at the last
minute we decided to go to the Belmar Seafood Festival. Boy!
Did we see a lot of food! All styles of seafood were represented
fried, broiled, Cajun, Creole. As a preview to our wine festival
in October Christine, Jim and Lisa went to the wine tasting
tent where Jim got the Star Trek Fan discount. This was Anna
Healy's first Noiz outdoor outing and she seemed to enjoy
herself. After sampling the seafood and visiting the arts
and craft booths we went for a nice walk around the boardwalk
where it was unseasonably cool. This may be a new Noiz annual
event.

On April 23rd, NOIZ
painted and decorated the bathroom in the Fairclough Education
Building. The room is now a bright sunny yellow color with
a pretty picture hanging on the wall, a brand new trash can
and a newly painted paper towel holder. The best and most
practical feature was the installation of a changing table.
The bathroom now looks very bright and happy. If you have
not seen it yet, please feel free to go check it out. For
parents with infants or toddlers that need a diaper change,
while you are enjoying your coffee hour on Sunday mornings
after the 9:15 am service, you will also be able to make
use of the new changing table. On behalf of NOIZ I hope that
you will enjoy the new color and accessories we have selected.

On Saturday April 9th Noiz had game night
and we played Luann?s Bibleopoly. It's similar to Monopoly,
but instead of building hotels you build churches. Instead
of going to jail, you go to meditate and you give offerings
for landing on property that people own instead of rent!
We also shared snacks and fellowship. It was so much fun
getting together to play board games and just relax and laugh.
And that's what Noiz is all about.

Sunday March 13th Noiz
hosted it's week of the Lenten Soup Supper Series. This season's
emphasis was about how others reflect on Lent. Tonight it
was Father Dris Kickerbocker who spoke about his thoughts
on Lent and engaged the audience in the discussion. As always
we had a great selection of soups including a sausage potato
soup, Chile, Lentil soup, Chicken vegetable soup and a wonderful
variety of salads, breads and deserts. Thanks to all who
helped.
